Whoa! We almost drove 900 miles to cross through one state! But we had a wonderful treat in the middle.
No this wasn't it... it just seemed like a funny place to pass.
This was it! Marc's brother Jason and family live in the middle of the vast state of Texas, and we were able to stop and spend the weekend with them.
They took us out for some real Texas grub, right off the BBQ pit at the Salt Lick.
We ordered just about everything and passed it around to make sure we tried it all. It was sure tasty!!
It wasn't just a regular weekend we got to spend with them, but the World Cup Weekend! And to top it off, Germany was in the final. (Jason, Marc and I all served in different missions in Germany- so we just about covered the whole country, and Jason's wife Susanne is from Switzerland) Suffice it to say, it was a pretty happening atmosphere for the game. Susanne prepared a scrumptious German feast for us.
It was a sweet victory, and so much better that we got to celebrate it with this great family!!
Then we played games,
but sadly, our time came to an end. Luckily our departure was sweetened by this Round Rock donut. Donuts are one of those things in life that are made purely to bring delight to the soul, and this one did just that :) What a huge, tasty donut!!
And then we hit the open road. This picture isn't too great, since the car would bounce as the panorama was moving along, but you can get the gist of the storm rolling in. One side sunny, one side pouring, and we drove right along the middle.
Life sure is good!
