The Sony Open

One of our friends in the ward called the other day to see if we liked tennis. Though neither of us are die hard fans, we both enjoy it casually. :) She is a pretty die hard fan, and got tickets to go to the Sony Open here in Miami. She went, and met some people from Mexico who had come, but they couldn't get a flight home Saturday, so they had to fly home Friday and wouldn't be able to use their tickets for Friday. My friend took them, thinking she could use them, but her schedule didn't work out either, so she called us!

Unfortunately, Marc had to open Friday morning, going in at 5am-4pm, and again Saturday. That meant we couldn't use the day time tickets, but we took the evening tickets. We got there in time to poke our head into a couple matches that were finishing up around all the different courts, and then there was only one game in the main stadium. It was Venus Williams vs. Anna Schmidelova. What a fun game! I'd never been to an open before, so it was fun just to soak in the atmosphere.
We parked, and then took the free bus provided.

Entering the park.

There were several smaller courts with games going when we got there. One of the games even had a fan escorted out by security, because they were loud.

Waiting for the main game to start, we watched the VIP valet parking. There were some pretty nice cars coming through.
When we first came in the men were warming up: Andy Murray vs. Matthew Ebden. Their game wasn't until after the women's, so unfortunately we couldn't stay to watch it. (Remember Marc worked at 5am that morning, and had to work the next day at 5am the next day too)

Marc watching the warm-ups. The stadium is starting to fill up.
Game Time! (8pm, so it was already getting late)

Of course to make the atmosphere a little more prestigious, they had cars like these parked around the stadium to view.
