Water is especially fun in the form of a beach! Marc had Saturday off, so we went up to Fort Lauderdale to use our Parasailing GroupOn. We called that morning to see if it was available, and they said 11am would be best. So we got ready and went up there. Unfortunately, we didn't realize it was the beach behind the Marriott hotel and so by the time we figured it out (we had a really nice worker help us out, he walked us all the way to the parking garage and through the hotel to the beach, to the counter) we had missed the 11 o'clock boat. He said we could just hang out on the private beach for the next boat.
Unfortunately as you can see it started to get a bit windy. It was a nice breeze to keep us cool, but it was a bad breeze for parasailing. They said there was a tropical wave coming through, so they couldn't do any more boats that day. They gave us a pass to come back sometime, and then we played in the waves for awhile!
Marc took a picture of me pulling my hair up before he joined me.
The beach is a turtle nesting beach. These signs and fenced off areas go down the beach for miles. The street has signs that say the lights go out at night for the turtles.
We followed this really neat road for a little while to get to the place we wanted to eat. All along the right you can see the beach. All along the left there were fun shops.
I've decided palm trees really exaggerate the wind. It wasn't nearly as windy as it looks here. This picture makes it look like we were in the middle of a tropical storm, which was hardly the case.
The parasailing guy recommended this place for a fun beach atmosphere with good food. It was all of that!
Marc had Cod covered in all sorts of good stuff, and I had a delicious blackened salmon.
My view at the restaurant.
As far as food goes, Marc enjoys documenting most of our meals. I'll upload a few of our more recent meals for his records :)
Last blog I told you we bought a mango and avocado down in Homestead on our way to the Everglades. Here they are opened up. Yes, it was kind of an odd way to open the mango, but this way we could see it whole. It was so fresh and ripe the skin just peeled off.
This meal was delicious. We used the avocados on BLT sandwiches, and ate the whole mango with it! (We only had half the avocado out, and only ate about half of that. So Marc smashed the other quarter that was out into his mango-peach salsa. It was pretty tasty!)
We tried a local chain restaurant called Pollo Tropical. We got a coupon for buy one get one free, so we thought it was worth a try. It was pretty delicious. This was the small size, which was plenty big.
We recently remembered we brought our Skookie pans out. So we've been making good use of them!
This is his mom's sweet and sour chicken I tried. It turned out delicious, but unfortunately the sauce never thickened... I'll try to adjust that next time. It may be different cooking at 10 feet above sea level (so it feels) as opposed to 4000 feet.

All that food makes me hungry! The fish looks amazing.
